NCC classes are going strong. There are a few on-site and usually around 16-20 ongoing classes in the Morgan County Jail. We also partner with Decatur Youth Services (Parenthood, Manhood, Womanhood classes), Calhoun Community College GED program, AA, Reformers Unanimous, local churches teaching Bible studies and assist them with their classes as needed. No matter the curriculum, it all points to Jesus. We do teach a variety Bible studies but there is also a need for healing and basic life skills to cope with past and current issues that have the foundation of the Gospel. And we love having graduations and celebrating victories! Each participant that completes a class earns a certificate. Some participants say that this is the first certificate they have ever earned and then some who have been in jail for quite a while have earned MANY certificates. We are so proud of each and every graduate.
If you have ever purchased a bible study book before, you know that the cost can add up when you are providing a book to a 30-member class. We don’t want anyone to miss a class because of financial reasons so if the inmates want to come to class, we provide everything they need to learn vital lessons and graduate the class. We couldn’t accomplish this without our faithful donors and volunteers. The Jail/Prison Ministry is one of our largest ministries and we love to see how God weaves His way through people by shining a light on the Truth. If you want to be a part of changing lives through Education & Discipleship through giving, you can donate at www.decaturncc.org or send a check to 619 Bank St. We appreciate your support as we strive daily to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
