Plugged In…Coming Summer 2022
It’s almost that time again where the 12-14 youth from our community will learn valuable work ethic, leadership skills, study the Bible together, and then turn around and teach children in the surrounding neighborhoods. One of our goals is that each youth participant will gain a new appreciation of living in the community and being a part of the Body of Christ. In the Summer Youth Leadership 7-week program, the areas intended for growth include but not limited to utilizing spiritual gifts, learning about conflict resolution, serving those in need, friendship development, and building a strong work ethic.
This year, the youth will study the book of Ephesians, focusing on being plugged in to the power of God instead of other things and people. This is a crucial lesson for the youth in today’s world. Along with Bible study, the youth will hear form guest speakers, go through life skills classes, tour local businesses, and work on future educational planning. After a week of intense training, the group will present their dance programs, Bible stories, make crafts, and play games with children at local programs and our neighborhood. If that was not enough, the youth will also get the opportunity to participate in community service at various organizations and in the neighborhoods we serve. Sponsors are greatly needed for the continued success of this program. The cost ranges from $1,750.00 to $1,950.00 (based on years worked in the program) per youth to cover their stipend, supplies, and travel expenses. Please prayerfully consider whole or partial scholarships. Make checks payable to the Neighborhood Christian Center and memo it 2022 Summer Youth Leadership Program or donate on-line at decaturncc.org. All donations are tax deductible, and a receipt will be sent at the end of the year. We thank you in advance for helping these young adults be part of this Summer Youth Leadership Program, developing their relationship with Jesus Christ and learning how to be a positive example within their families, communities, and schools through their daily living. |
