Our Mission: To serve our neighbors in need with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and
provide hope and healing through education and discipleship.
As you can see in our mission above, education and discipleship are integral parts of our ministries at the NCC. Education is a daily priority whether it is inside a jail or prison, onsite at the NCC, or out in the community. The staff and volunteers work diligently choosing Bible studies and class curriculums for each class. Sometimes it is a Bible study with a video and then other times it’s a Life Skills class that goes back to the basics of relationships, finances, employment, and parenting. So far this year in the Jail/Prison ministry, we have had 382 graduates from classes. We also have Bible studies and classes in Spanish 3 times a week. These ladies never want to miss a class. They learn, fellowship, and pray for each other. Some have never been a part of a small group Bible study before and learn about their Jesus for the first time. What a joyous day when someone declares Jesus as their Savior. That’s what our education is about…the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
After someone learns about Jesus, now they want to know what’s next. Discipleship is critical when nurturing fellow believers who are new in their faith or even have been a believer a majority of their life. NCC strives to disciple, mentor, and lead others in their walk with Jesus. We have a Mentor ministry that partners with our Transitional Home ministry where the residents have classes, Bible studies, and meet with mentors on a regular basis. On Neighbors Day, people who come for food and clothes don’t walk away with just food and clothes. They meet with a volunteer who prays for them and asks them about their life, health, and other needs besides what they came to the NCC for initially. It’s a special time that the neighbors are grateful for. One of our newest ministries, Table of 12, equips people to be who God made them to be through a community of relationships and meaningful work. Through self-discovery, monthly small group (12 people per group) meetings and one-on-one relationship building, we come to the table together and strive to live in community in a way that allows us to see everyone as a neighbor whether they look, think, or act like us or not.
The NCC will continue to focus on education and discipleship in every aspect of ministry. Thank you to all our staff, volunteers, and donors who partner with us to keep the main thing the main thing!
As you can see in our Mission Statement above, we want to serve like Jesus and provide not only hope but healing in many ways through Education and Discipleship. So how do our ministries line up with our mission? That’s what the NCC tries to do in everything we do…bring it back to the basics of education and discipleship.
